The LACDC assists with the “Mayor’s” project.
For the last 2 years the Leechburg Area Community Development Corporation has assisted Mayor Wayne Dobos in his quest to revitalize the Leechburg River Front Park with a project to build a river access ramp at the park.
With Wayne’s passing we wanted to make sure that the river access project kept moving. We investigated and confirmed in early March that the engineering, fund raising, and bidding, were all completed so that the project could move forward.
Leechburg Borough Council, as it turns out, was not in favor of the location of the ramp and subsequently ordered a new engineering study to move the ramp to the northern end of the park.
That engineering study was completed and presented to Council and other interested parties on June 21st. That evening the Council approved the engineering study and voted to move forward with placement of the ramp at the new location.
A new permit application has been sent to the DEP which is expected to take 2 to 3 months for approval. This project should move forward smoothly from here which means the river access ramp will be available for the 2023 season.
